Dr. Shawn Hervey-Jumper did an incredible of creating trust, explaining the medical facts, and actually teaching me a bit more about my body/brain.I think some of what Dr. Hervey-Jumper brings to the patient experience can't be taught or learned, because he is just authentic, human, and shows up naturally with an enthusiasm for his science and art.I especially appreciate that Dr. Hervey-Jumper did not chastise me for having done some of my own homework to understand the tumor, its location and that I came in with questions to rule out any linkage to the strange BP issues I've been having since 2022. I also appreciate that he was not at all dismissive when I asked him to help me aLao understand the MRI images. I LOVE that Dr. Hervey-Jumper was so kind, and respectful, and that he approached my case with a similar clear risk vs value logic that I saw him so eloquently share in one of his talks. His residents were also just great and it makes me happy to know that they are learning from one of the best In the field of neurosurgery! I can now confidentially rest easy for the next 6-12 months, and even if this tumor needs to come out in a few years, 90% of the battle is won because I have identified a neurosurgeon I can trust 1000%!!!I am deeply grateful to the entire care team, and especially Dr. Harvey-Jumper!!!

Dr. Jumper is an excellent communicator, he led the discussion thoughtfully, slowly explained my diagnosis in detail that was also understandable, and answered all of our questions. I left the call thinking UCSF must be a world class facility with some of the best health care professionals available. I work in healthcare, and have experience with a fair amount of cardiologists and interventional radiologist/neurologists..I can confidently say Dr. Jumper has world class bedside manner, just from my short teleconference with him. My family and I are excited to be cared for by him and his team.
