About me
Dr. Yiyi Wang, who goes by Charlotte, is an optometrist who provides comprehensive eye care. She has a special interest in prevention, early diagnosis and management of chronic eye diseases.
Wang's research is driven by her passion for improving patients' vision and preventing blindness and visual impairment. Her investigations focus on identifying imaging biomarkers (detectable biological features that can provide information related to a disease) to enhance the results of clinical trials developing new ophthalmic medical devices and drugs.
Wang earned her doctor of optometry degree from the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science at the University of California, Berkeley, where she also completed a residency in primary care and community health. She earned her doctorate in vision science at UC Berkeley as well, studying the human retina through adaptive optics imaging (a high-resolution technique that corrects distortions) and psychophysics (which looks at the relationship between objective characteristics of stimuli and how individuals perceive the stimuli).
Wang is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and a board member of the Alameda Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society.
