Eva C. Ihle, MD, PhD

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry | Psychiatry

Dr. Eva C. Ihle is a neuroscientist and psychiatrist who cares for children, adolescents and adults.

Ihle serves as interim medical director of the Division of Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. She also directs the hospital’s program to enhance access to psychiatric care for underserved populations by partnering with primary care clinics.

In her research, Ihle has studied social behaviors in songbirds and a mouse model for autism. She also has examined the mechanisms that support health and well-being in individuals under stress.

Ihle earned her medical degree and a doctorate in neurobiology in the University of Chicago Medical Scientist Training Program. At UCSF, she completed a residency in general adult psychiatry, a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, and a postdoctoral fellowship in the lab of Allison Doupe, investigating the biochemistry of social context.
