Our radiology and imaging services

Patients and providers throughout Northern California turn to UCSF Health for excellence in imaging. We offer all types of imaging, including X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans and MRIs. We have some of the most powerful technology available, offering fast, precise diagnostic tests.

Our radiology specialties include:

  • Screenings. These tests detect diseases before symptoms appear. Ask your provider if calcium scoring, lung cancer screening, mammography or DEXA bone density screenings are right for you.

  • Breast imaging. We use 100% digital imaging to detect and diagnose breast cancer. Our advanced imaging capabilities include 3D mammography (tomosynthesis), breast ultrasound and breast MRI.

  • Nuclear medicine. Nuclear imaging uses a tiny amount of a radioactive substance to help diagnose and monitor diseases in their earliest stages, such as cancer, heart disease and bone problems.

  • Musculoskeletal imaging. Radiologists and orthopedic surgeons diagnose bone, joint and soft tissue disorders. We offer special accommodations for people with claustrophobia or metal implants.

  • Interventional radiology. Our experts use imaging guidance to perform minimally invasive procedures through tiny incisions. We examine and treat blocked or abnormal blood vessels in our catheterization labs.

  • Neurointerventional radiology. We treat strokes, aneurysms and other cerebrovascular diseases (conditions affecting blood vessels in your brain) using minimally invasive techniques.
