Specialty Pharmacy

The UCSF Specialty Pharmacy provides personalized services for patients of all ages with chronic, complex or rare diseases that require specialized therapies. It’s open to UCSF patients and to the general public.

Unlike a standard pharmacy team, our clinical pharmacists, technicians and care coordinators are trained in specific diseases to help guide patients through treatment. We work closely with you to make sure you understand how your medication works and whether it requires special handling or storage.

The team educates patients about techniques for administering medication (including injection training), managing side effects and drug interactions. We also remind you about refills and offer ongoing support during your treatment.

Our goal is to work with you, your caregivers and your providers to help you achieve the best possible outcome from your therapy.
