About me

Pronouns: He | Him | His

Dr. Ezequiel Goldschmidt, who goes by Eze, is a neurosurgeon who cares for patients with brain, skull base and pituitary gland tumors. He has particular expertise in using minimally invasive approaches.

In research, Goldschmidt seeks to deepen understanding of human anatomy in order to improve surgical techniques and facilitate access to complex lesions during procedures. He is also interested in how developmental biology can advance understanding of tumor growth and help brains recover from injury.

A proud member of the Latinx community, Goldschmidt earned his medical degree and doctorate at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina, where he studied the regeneration of human dura (the outermost membrane covering the brain). He completed a residency in neurosurgery and a fellowship in skull base surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. At the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, he completed a postdoctoral surgical fellowship in neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain's neural pathways to change in response to stimulation ranging from new information to injury).

It is still a hard read whether or not the risks outweigh the benefits of a non-life threatening condition with a life-altering surgery. I was hoping to hear words of comfort like, "If this were my parent/child/sibling, I would absolutely do the surgery/monitor." I guess not hearing those words is a confirming the ambiguity of risk-benefit trade-off.

Seemed abrupt and matter-a-fact considering this was in regards to a brain tumor. He didn't explain it . To him it was probably no big deal, but to me it was a very big issue to have been told that you have a brain tumor and worry for weeks until you can talk to the doctor about it and In literally less than 5 minutes be told it's no big deal without explanation. I explained it to him and he confirmed. Frustrating! And when I said I have symptoms I thought were from the tumor, he seemed annoyed and said " it's not inside your brain so that is not from the tumor". I realized it is likely true but again not much explanation.

Doctor even if he was obviously behind or delayed due to ER he experienced earlier, he never displayed any type of rush to complete my appointment. He gave me time to gather my thoughts when something was explained to me. Not once did I feel rushed!
