Vision Optical Parnassus

Vision Optical Parnassus offers comprehensive exams, including screening for glaucoma and cataracts, as well as vision correction with glasses and contact lenses. We carry the latest in contact lens options as well as high-quality fashion frames and sunglasses, with products from Calvin Klein, Gucci, Maui Jim, Oakley, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, ProDesign, Ray-Ban, Morel and more.

In addition to the usual UCSF insurances, Vision Optical at Parnassus serves UCSF graduate students with Blue View insurance.

Note: If you've been seen by one of our optometrists before, and you have Vision Service Plan (VSP) insurance, you can schedule your next routine vision appointment directly through UCSF MyChart.

Most medical insurance does not cover refraction (the test to calculate the glasses prescription). At UCSF, refraction starts at $77.50. Contact lens fittings also typically start at $60. If you wish to pursue refraction or a contact lens fitting at UCSF, please bring your glasses and any recent contact lens prescriptions. If you wish to renew a current contact lens prescription, please arrive wearing the contact lenses for at least 2 hours in advance of the appointment.

We also provide eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses, contact lenses, protective eyewear and related accessories for patients age 8 and up at our Optical Dispensary – Mission Bay Illinois St. and pediatric eyewear at our Optical Dispensary – Mission Bay Fourth St., also known as the Augie Optical Dispensary.
