Patricia Loftus, MD

Rhinologist and skull base surgeon

Dr. Patricia Loftus is an otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon — also known as an ear, nose and throat specialist. She specializes in nasal and sinus surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery and general otolaryngology. Her interests include treating patients with allergic and nonallergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, fungal sinusitis, cerebrospinal fluid leaks and sinonasal tumors.

Loftus received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Penn.  She completed her otolaryngology – head and neck surgery residency, including one year as chief resident, at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y. She then completed her fellowship training in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.

 

Loftus is an assistant professor in the Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Division of the UCSF Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Rhinologic Society and American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. She is the first author of multiple book chapters and publications in peer-reviewed journals, and has been invited to present her research and to lecture at both national and international meetings. Her research interests focus on sinonasal changes that occur with aging, meningoencephaloceles and cerebrospinal fluid leaks of unknown origin, and patient outcomes following endoscopic skull base surgery.
