About me
Alexander Dien is a physical therapist who specializes in neurological conditions. His experience includes working with patients who have vestibular disorders, strokes, neurodegenerative diseases, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and concussions. Tailoring plans to individual goals and experiences, he aims to help his patients make the most of their functional abilities and become as independent as possible. He enjoys collaborating with providers in other disciplines on managing the variety of issues arising from neurological conditions.
In research, Dien is investigating virtual reality as a treatment for patients who have issues with dizziness. He also studies how physical therapy students engage in a community after working in a nonprofit clinic serving individuals without or with minimal insurance coverage for physical therapy services.
Dien earned his bachelor's degree in cognitive science from the University of California, San Diego and his doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Rhode Island. He completed a residency in neurological physical therapy at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, where he provided one-on-one rehabilitative services. He is a board-certified neurologic clinical specialist.
Outside of work, Dien enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with his German shepherd.
