About me

Dr. Andrea V. Jackson is an obstetrician and gynecologist who specializes in providing Black-identifying patients with reproductive health care that meets the needs of the whole person. She also specializes in complex contraception and abortion services, with a particular focus on patients living with chronic illnesses. She is chair of the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences.

Jackson's research focuses on Black women's reproductive health during all life stages. She is co-director of the UCSF Black Women's Health and Livelihood Initiative and of EMBRACE, UCSF's innovative perinatal program which provides prenatal and postpartum care to support both physical and mental health.

Jackson earned a bachelor's degree in engineering at Cornell University before earning her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in complex family planning at UCSF. She also has a master of advanced studies degree in clinical research from UCSF.
