About me
Dr. Ari Hoffman is a hospitalist, a specialist in managing the care of hospitalized patients. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as value improvement director for the UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine and medical director of the UCSF hospital medicine service at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Hoffman's research focuses on value improvement in health care, costs of care, health policy and models of delivering care. He is an affiliate faculty member of the UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and a faculty representative and implementation guide co-lead for the High Value Practice Academic Alliance, a consortium of academic medical centers dedicated to raising health care value through collaborative quality improvement, education and research.
After earning a bachelor's degree in biological sciences at Stanford University, Hoffman completed a fellowship in bioethics at the National Institutes of Health. He earned his medical degree and completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF. After finishing his medical training, he joined the faculty of the Global Health Service Partnership, caring for patients at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda before joining faculty at UCSF in 2014.
