Dr. Daria Motamedi is a radiologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions using imaging of bones, joints and soft tissues.

Motamedi's research focuses on new ways of using MRI scans and ultrasound for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders. He is also interested in artificial intelligence, particularly deep learning applications for imaging (technology that helps radiologists detect with greater accuracy).

Motamedi earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at the University of California, San Diego.

Motamedi serves as UCSF's director of musculoskeletal ultrasound and interventions and also as quality champion for the musculoskeletal radiology section of the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. He is an invited member of the Society of Academic Bone Radiologists.

Motamedi's passion for basketball fuels his interest in sports medicine and sports injury imaging, and he enjoys consulting on the medical cases of local collegiate and professional athletes.
