Diana Ziser Rego is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients having colorectal surgery. Her expertise includes providing care both before and after surgery, as well as managing various colorectal conditions. Her areas of special interest include care for disorders of the anus, rectum and colon, including cancers; surgical treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); and coordinating care from a multidisciplinary team for surgical patients with complex needs.
Rego's research interests include a health care protocol known as ERAS, for enhanced recovery after surgery, that aims to reduce patients' stress and facilitate their postoperative return to health. She also studies colorectal cancer, IBD, pelvic floor disorders and hemorrhoidal disease.
Rego has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Portland and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She earned her master's degree in nursing from the University of Michigan, specializing in the complicated management of surgery in older patients through the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program.
