Dr. Sarah Patterson is a rheumatologist who specializes in integrative medicine. In her practice, she combines tools from mainstream medicine with mind-body techniques and nutritional therapies, with the goal of addressing the individual goals and challenges of patients living with chronic disease.
Patterson's research examines the effects of stress on patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
At UCSF, Patterson earned her medical degree, completed a residency in internal medicine and completed a fellowship in rheumatology. She then completed a research fellowship in integrative medicine through the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. She has studied therapeutic nutrition, yoga and meditation.
