Dr. Sarah Patterson is a rheumatologist who specializes in integrative medicine. In her practice, she combines tools from mainstream medicine with mind-body techniques and nutritional therapies, with the goal of addressing the individual goals and challenges of patients living with chronic disease.

Patterson's research examines the effects of stress on patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.

At UCSF, Patterson earned her medical degree, completed a residency in internal medicine and completed a fellowship in rheumatology. She then completed a research fellowship in integrative medicine through the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health. She has studied therapeutic nutrition, yoga and meditation.

    Dr Sarah Patterson is one of my favorite docs. And I am so appreciative that UCSF has this integrated medicine department. She really knows how to merge western and alternative medicine beside that she's a super lovely person who really cares about her patience

    They still have forgotten how to pronounce my name properly after all these years. :( I think a phonetic reminder on all patient docs would be helpful for this.
