About me

Elizabeth Dito is a nurse for the Symptom Management Service, which provides care and counseling for patients at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is passionate about improving her patients' quality of life with aggressive symptom management as well as about educating nurses on palliative care and symptom management.

Dito earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of San Francisco. At UCSF, she founded the advisory board for palliative care and symptom management, and she remains an active member. She has developed quarterly educational sessions for nurses that emphasize symptom management. She is also a trainer for the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium, a national program to improve end-of-life care by nurses.

Dito started her nursing career as a bedside nurse at UCSF, caring for patients undergoing kidney, pancreas or liver transplants. Prior to joining the symptom management team, she worked with patients undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.
