Jim Spira is a psychologist who cares for patients with cancer, providing support as they adjust to being diagnosed, undergoing treatment, and living with the disease.
In research, Spira focuses on how self-help skills, such as meditation, can improve patients' quality of life.
Spira earned a master's degree in psychology from the University of California, San Diego, followed by a master of public health degree and a doctorate in counseling psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. Spira also completed an internship and postdoctoral fellowship in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University.
