Dr. John Mongan is a radiologist who specializes in abdominal imaging, including with ultrasound technology.

Mongan's research focuses on using computers to recognize disease, helping radiologists to be more efficient and accurate.

Mongan earned his medical degree and a doctorate in bioinformatics – applying information science to biological data – from the University of California, San Diego. At UCSF, he completed a residency in radiology, followed by a fellowship in abdominal imaging and ultrasound.

Mongan is vice chair of informatics for the radiology department, where he supervises development of clinical software.
