Van Halbach, MD

Neurointerventional radiologist

Dr. Van Halbach is a leader in neurointerventional radiology, specializing in the endovascular treatment of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, dural fistulae and cerebrovascular malformations. He earned a medical degree and completed an internship, residency and fellowship at UCLA Medical Center.

Halbach was the fifth president of the American Society of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology, which is now the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, and has held numerous positions in national and international societies. He has coauthored more than 200 peer reviewed articles. Halbach received the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Member Teaching Award from the UCSF Department of Radiology in 1999. He is a clinical professor of radiology, neurological surgery, neurology and anesthesia.
