Cancer acute care at UCSF Health

Our team is dedicated to helping patients when they experience unexpected, non-life-threatening illnesses or symptoms related to cancer, including treatment-related complications.

Our team includes highly skilled advanced practice providers with expertise in addressing symptoms, such as:

  • Dehydration
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Fever
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • New or worsening pain
  • Rash
  • Shortness of breath (non-life-threatening)
  • Swelling of an arm or leg

If you're having any of these symptoms, contact your UCSF oncology team for a same-day referral for cancer acute care. We do not accept walk-ins at this time.

Once the referral is accepted, the clinic will contact you to schedule an appointment. Our goal is to do this within 45 minutes of receiving the referral.

This clinic is only for problems that are not potentially life-threatening. For urgent, life-threatening symptoms, contact your cancer care team for instructions or call 911.
