Dr. Chloe Atreya specializes in gastrointestinal cancer, particularly colorectal cancer, at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research in colorectal cancer focuses on the interplay of tumor genetics and a patient's response to therapies, with the goal of improving outcomes by personalizing therapy.

Atreya received her medical degree and a doctorate in pharmacology at Yale University. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington, followed by a fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF.

Atreya has received many prestigious awards, including a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Cancer Society and investigator awards from the Conquer Cancer Foundation and Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Association for Cancer Research, and serves on the gastrointestinal committee of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.

    Dr. Atreya is excellent! She took her time to listen and explain everything regarding my situation and ongoing treatments in a manner that was easy to understand and thorough. She made me feel comfortable. I was impressed that my visit lasted nearly an hour as I have never experienced this before. I want to mention that her after visit summary in MyChart was excellent! It was written in an easy to understand manner that I that I understood.

    Targeting liver cancer with a small pump

    Dr. Atreya was on the care team for one patient who beat cancer with a hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) pump, a device that delivers chemotherapy directly to the liver.
