Pronouns: She | Her | Hers

Dr. Diana H. Yu is an interventional pulmonologist who specializes in performing minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat conditions of the airways, lungs and pleura (tissues covering the lungs). She is also a critical care specialist who sees patients in the intensive care unit. Her expertise includes minimally invasive bronchoscopic and pleural procedures to address complex pleural diseases and airway complications of lung transplantation.

In research, she is interested in evaluating noninvasive bronchoscopic approaches to treating chronic bronchitis and lung cancer. She also pursues translational research (which seeks to apply relevant lab findings to patient care) to find the mechanism underlying airway strictures (areas that are abnormally narrowed).

She earned her medical degree at Rush Medical College and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, Irvine. She completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles and a fellowship in interventional pulmonology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in molecular cell biology and music at the University of California, Berkeley.

Before joining UCSF, she served as director of interventional pulmonology research and associate director of the interventional pulmonology fellowship program at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She has also been a Stanford Medicine faculty member in the division of pulmonary, allergy and critical care medicine.

She is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians and American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
