About me

Dr. Eric Ricker is an optometrist who cares for patients with conditions affecting the optic nerve, including glaucoma, as well as other neurological disorders affecting vision. He is experienced in managing care before and after eye surgery, including cataract, glaucoma, retinal and corneal procedures.

Ricker has participated in clinical research examining the anterior ocular structure (front third of the eye) and its relationship with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (loss of vision due to reduced blood flow to the optic nerve). Also dedicated to medical education, he has participated in teaching students and residents in the clinic and with board reviews. His professional goals include furthering the education of eye care specialists in the Bay Area.

Ricker earned his doctor of optometry degree at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. He completed a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. He also earned a master of business administration degree at Washington University in St. Louis.

Outside the clinic, Ricker enjoys trying new restaurants, playing volleyball and taking spontaneous trips.
