Dr. Karen Chee is a hematologist and oncologist who provides general cancer care while also specializing in cancers of the gastrointestinal organs and hematologic benign and malignant disorders.

Chee's research focuses on developing treatments for a variety of neoplasms (abnormal growths that may be cancerous). She has authored and co-authored multiple papers on the topic.

Chee earned her medical degree at the University of California, Davis, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology.

Chee is a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Chee plays seven musical instruments and is an avid and intrepid traveler, despite having once been attacked by a monkey on a trip to China.

    For cancer patients I think it would help if someone played the role as a quarterback. I wasn't sure about what I should do next in the process after the completion of the first set of chemo. But all of a sudden I need to contact the surgeon to let him know I'm going to be finished with the fourth round. And my oncologist had to put in an immediate order for a CT scan to ensure I would be able to get to surgery in the next 4 - 6 weeks. Sometimes scans are fully booked many weeks out and may delay the time a patient can get to surgery. It would be good if someone played a lead role in the next steps I should be taking in the process and the timing of when these things should take place. Or better yet playing a role in initiating the next steps between the surgeon oncologist and coordinating the scans that would need to take place after chemo and before surgery.

    Dr Chee is excellent at welcoming and immediately making you feel comfortable. She is SO knowledgeable but is patient while you take in the information and immediately answers and clarifies. I know I am in the most excellent of hematology experts.

    I have been seeing Dr. Chee for 15 years. She has always had compassion and an upbeat personality. Her treatment recommendations have been very successful. As of today I show no signs of cancer.I see her every four months and look forward to the visit.

    Dr. Chee is awesome! When she comes in to see me she has already looked at all my blood tests and knows exactly what is good or concerning. She explains her concerns and what she is watching for she also helps to separate out what is CLL and what symptoms might be related to some other issue or comorbidity. I am grateful because how can a patient know if CLL is causing their symptoms or not so many symptoms are similar. I have no idea what symptoms are related to CLL or something else. Dr. Chee is very clear about what is and is not CLL and that helps me better understand what is going on. My only wish is that Dr. Chee was not so very busy she spends time with me but she talks so fast it takes me time to figure out what she is really telling me. This is not her fault I am not in the medical field so it takes me time to understand all she shares with me. I tell you I feel blessed to have Dr. Karen Chee managing my CLL. She is EXCELLENT!!!! I hope I stay in "watch and wait" for years to come but if I don't I know I am in good hands...

    My appointment with Dr. Chee was an annual wellness check. She addressed this as well as a new health issue. In doing so she was reassuring thorough in her explanation of the issue next steps and plan. She took the time to be sure I understood the concern and plan. Dr. Chee is an excellent knowledgeable clinician who is friendly active engages and shows high caring capacity. I would recommend her to friends and family in need of an oncologist.

    Dr Chee shows compassion and lots of empathy. She's very professional and allows my daughter who is not medically trained to understand our direction and my therapy. Dr Chee is very knowledgeable and communicates well with lots of patience for questions.

    Dr Chee is outstanding She greeted me and my daughter as if old friends. She went on to basically give us a tutorial on protein spikes and anemia explaining it in the clearest terms. Then she related that information to my newly learned condition. Dr Chee was so very attentive to our questions and concerns enough to allay anxiety for the time being. She prescribed blood test for immediately and for 4 months later. She assured me I would hear from her with the results no later than 3 business days. And very important she is the only doctor that has tied together some of a confluence of newly learned conditions. Because of this very successful appointment I know I will receive the best of care from Dr Chee going forward.

    I was very pleased with our very first appointment with Dr. Chee. She was very attentive and concerned about my mom given her overall health and age. She explained issues encountered and offered suggestions for my her subsequent care. She was quick to suggest blood work and advised me of radiologist recommendations.
