    Apr 24, 2023
Impatient, comes off with arrogance and frustration with my detailed questions , refers questions as "outside of their knowledge or interest " thus leaving me feeling like a part as opposed to a whole person who had serious surgical situation

Some lateness, but I understand how busy they are

Sometimes it seems that the Endocrinology Dept isn't connected to the gastro, Or oncology and surgery depts . Perhaps all these branches of medicine are connected within UCSF internal system and meetings etc, but as patient, I'm left feeling concerned often that my case and it's oversight is compartmentalized where the specialty areas all must overlap but I'm left worried often that perhaps they do not ?

Worst provider ever with a complete lack of empathy and full of excuses/assumptions. Clearly, she has never been a patient herself. She is great the first appointment and after that, she wants nothing to do with you. Zero accountability. A complete shame to the profession.

So grateful Dr. Rao was willing to see me to work on finding answers to significant medical changes I've been experiencing. She took the time to listen and really engaged, where no other doctor would consent to a consult. Thank you so much!!!

The delays in care were long, the workup was not colloborative or sufficiently thorough, and I am sicker because of both. Primary care ultimately referred me to another specialist who ordered the imaging parts of the endocrine workup and was surprised that endocrinology hadn't already ordered them given my history, exam, and symptoms. That extra set of steps to get the imaging delayed the overall workup by at least a month. The longest delay was when some of the thyroid lab results that this provider ordered came back abnormal in a pattern that the nurse practitioner (NP) who usually handles thyroid treatment couldn't quite explain, so the NP referred my questions back to this provider, but they told me that they wouldn't have availability to answer questions or follow up on the meaning of the abnormal labs for four months because the clinic was busy. (They did later squeeze me into the schedule months sooner, though, for which I am grateful, so they did underpromise and overdeliver, for the record.) I wish that the provider had made a plan to answer questions about abnormal lab results (and what workup primary care should do to follow up) promptly in advance. Finally, the provider's explanations were too general, so I ultimately had to get most of the answers by doing my own literature review via PubMed and subscribing to the provider edition of UpToDate instead, and I am still not sure that they really did a complete workup to rule out endocrine causes. I felt treated mostly like a drain on their resources from which they had to defend themselves. I would not recommend this clinic to another patient.

Dr. Rao was so kind, caring and thorough. I'm at the beginning of my journey through this medical saga, but I feel I'm in good hands.

I was very happy to see Dr. Rao.She' has been dealing with my ambivalent about medication for years. She took the time to explain how my medication will block the effects of my overworked adrenals glands. I'm still not 100 percent on board but I'm going to give it a try.

I am part of three different health care systems and before that was part of the Kaiser network. Every time I do anything within UCSF It Is always noticeable how much better they are at every part of the appointment.
