Dr. Phoebe A. Ashley is a cardiologist with a special interest in caring for women, particularly those who experience adverse pregnancy outcomes, which increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Her goal is to identify pregnant patients with risk factors (such as gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia and premature delivery) and change the trajectory of their future heart health by helping them address these issues.

Ashley enjoys educating other medical professionals as well as her patients and their families. She is passionate about caring for the whole patient and managing the many factors that contribute to a person's well-being.

Ashley earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she also completed a residency and chief residency in internal medicine. She completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of New Mexico's Health Sciences Center.

    The providers office was supposed to call me to order a Calcium score test and to schedule additional heart tests and I haven't heard from anyone in 9 days. I'm hoping to hear from someone soon as I'm leaving to country to travel again for the holidays.

    The care provider is very friendly and kind. The doctor listens to my health concerns and she did a thorough assessment on me. The doctor also explained to me about my health problems. Wonderful doctor.

    I have never had that complete of an intake from any cardiologist that I have seen. I was very impressed and she was kind and pleasant. I did not know many of the things that she was bringing up and I am feel better knowing that we will get to better deal with my current conditions. She has a plan!

    I didn't appreciate the provider putting "possible anxiety" as a possible cause of my concerns In her initial write-up for first session. That is very frustrating and hurtful. "Possible residual stress" and/or "undetermined other factors" would have instead been positive appropriate wording for such a first session. There could be many reasons for fatigue In a person's life (such as heavy eyelids). Also seeking second opinion/evaluation of a report that stated there could be an issue should have been seen as brave and wise.I am a very proactive person and an excellent analyst. I do the best I can to take exceptional care of my health. Seeking health review from an incredibly excellent institution such as yours should not subject me or my medical records to unsupported psychosocial terms that could create stigma and impact my self-esteem reputation and impression by other providers. UCSF should instead be Incredibly proud of me for taking such proactive steps in my health and glad I see them as experts. My health questions should be seen as appropriately checking my concerns questions and health status before progressing into older age years ...so I can be proactive.I was otherwise very pleased and happy with this thorough provider though the write-up was very very (incredibly) frustrating and not respectful to me in this specific regard.I was there that day for medical review of my heart not an evaluation of my psychology and my reputation at risk. In thoroughness I have proactively sought therapy support in the past (as good for most people to do) and anxiety was never stated as an issue. My medical chart should be free of anxiety. UCSF should instead be very proud of me and delighted to see me!

    Dr. Ashley is probably the most thorough and caring specialist I have ever seen. She spent over an hour with me going over my entire medical history. I appreciated that she considered my whole health picture because mine is a complex one (I probably have a connective tissue disorder that has caused numerous issues but am awaiting confirmation with genetic testing). She really listened to me and took the time to connect all of the dots. She was very knowledgeable about connective tissue disorders as well as how menopause affects women's heart (and overall) health. I learned a lot during my visit and felt that my concerns were taken seriously. I am thankful I found Dr. Ashley to help me assess my current heart health and maintain it into the future. I already recommended her to a friend who has been frustrated by cardiologists who don't take her symptoms seriously (she's on her 5th cardiologist I think!).

    As a physician and previous medical administrator Dr Ashley is one of the most compassionate dedicated and skilled physicians I have ever had the privilege to have Interact with as a patient and/or co worker. This is no small feat as I have had professional interactions that exceeds more than 1000 physician contacts. She Is truly extraordinary and an example to us all on how to perform a physical exam and elicit a detailed medical history that is integrated with exceptional diagnostic acumen.
