Dr. Roshelle Chan is a family doctor who is passionate about preventive medicine, women's health, contraceptive care and improving community health through education. A focus of her practice is providing comprehensive management of acute and chronic conditions. Having many years of involvement with various service organizations and free health clinics, she is a strong advocate for LGBTQ+, immigrant and minority communities. She also has a special interest in sexual health issues.

Chan earned her medical degree at the University of California, Davis. She completed a residency in family medicine at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. During her training, she mentored premedical students, organized community events to increase diabetes and cervical cancer screening among underserved patient populations, and promoted diversity and inclusion in clinical settings and medicine.

As a San Francisco native, Chan feels honored to give back to her childhood community, which motivated and inspired her path in medicine.

    Dr. Chan is one of the most conscientious PCPs I've had in my lifetime. I feel like she really listens to me and how I might prefer to approach treatment even if it's unconventional. I feel respected and seen as an individual.

    Dr Chan is beyond excellent. She genuinely cares about her patients and speaks to her patients as if they are capable and knowledgeable members of the care team.     Dr. Chan showed much compassion with my concerns and explained everything so I understood what was happening during my appointment. She always made sure I was comfortable and if I wasn't she do her best to reassure me. I like her a lot.

    Very inexperienced doctor strictly adhere to the allotted 15 minutes. She must have mentioned at least half a dozen times that I only get 15 minutes with her.

    This was my second visit with Dr. Roshelle Chan. She is first rate.

    The provider had a student shadowing her but instead of shadowing student took the lead and the doctor was listening to her in someways more than me. Focusing on being present for the student and sort of performing doctoring towards me for the benefit of the student. It was fine and I agreed to it but the Quality of her presence did not feel genuine or attuned. More like a doctor pretending to be caring and handling a patient. It was very subtle but I felt more like an object than a human. I found a lot of the newer doctors are like this having been taught how to seem caring and respectful but it doesn't feel that way. There's a disingenuous there a way of being that still feels like you're being handled but with a veneer of trained bedside manner.

    Care provider fit me into her schedule at the last minute. Listened asked questions recommended a treatment explained issues scheduled follow up time frame to get her an update. Treatment worked . Pretty spectacular from my standpoint

    She was amazing. I was nervous about starting care with a new PCP especially because I had no choice about who to see. She explained her process for starting new patient care which was very sane. She listened to me. I feel good about having her as my PCP. I hope that she sticks around.

    Doctor was sympathetic and really helpful. She read the situation well and got us the care we needed. I also appreciate that she said- all after care instructions are written down so you can get out of here. Screaming toddlers and attention span are not compatible.

    Excellent kind and non-judgemental care provided. I very much enjoyed the time she took to walk me through everything she was doing with the vaginal inspection and Pap smear. I felt very comfortable and cared for.

    I was 10 minutes latee as I went to the wrong lobby. As soon as the Dr came And she said that she only had a couple of minutes that she needed to cut it short which made me feel really uncomfortable like she didn't care off top

    I love Dr. Roshelle Chan!!!! One of the best primary care providers I have ever experienced! She took the time to listen to me she trusted what I was sharing with her she did not minimize my own assessment of what I needed she supported what I needed while providing her expert guidance on options and paths forward and she made me feel at ease and safe to talk to her. A previous primary care provider and a nurse that I saw at this location at times made me feel minimized and did not help me with my health concerns.

    My visit with Dr. Chan was truly the first time I've ever really felt seen or heard by a health care provider in my life. She was completely engaged while I shared my medical history. She took the time to listen and understand all of my concerns and was very thorough with her assessment. That made me feel such at ease after weeks of unease. Doctor visits can be scary but I felt very trusting in her after the first few minutes of speaking with her. She curated a in-depth health plan for me going forward and I immediately felt confident that my health concerns will be resolved soon. Dr. Chan is EXTREMELY kind compassionate knowledgeable and overall a true example of what every health care provider should be! I am very grateful to have her on my health care team. She is an exemplary doctor that UCSF is so fortunate to have.

    Everyone was amazing and the staff was great. The doctor and everyone who was apart in assisting me did an amazing job and made sure all my questions and concerns were taken care of. They all were very respectful and helpful.

    Provider told me they are only given 15-20 minutes per patient so any other health related questions or concerns I had would have to be covered by another appointment. This was the first time I have seen this provider so I cannot say I fully recommend her to others until I have seen her a few more times.
