Dr. Shalini Dixit is a cardiologist who cares for patients with a wide variety of cardiovascular diseases and specializes in echocardiography (using ultrasound to image the heart). She interprets imaging results, performs transesophageal echocardiograms (in which a flexible tube is passed down the esophagus to obtain images) and provides imaging guidance in heart valve procedures. Her special interests include conditions affecting the heart valves and heart disease prevention.

Dixit has studied how lifestyle factors, such as caffeine and alcohol consumption, affect cardiac risk, and she enjoys helping patients adopt heart-healthy habits. She also conducts research related to echocardiography.

Dixit earned her medical degree at UCSF, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiovascular disease and advanced echocardiography.
