Advanced neurological recovery care
Our specialists provide consultations and care for patients recovering from or adapting to acquired neurological injuries (those that aren't congenital or genetic), including:
-
Concussions
-
Spinal cord injuries
-
Strokes
-
Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs)
Through a comprehensive evaluation, we help you discover and follow a personalized recovery plan to improve your functioning.
In addition to neurologists, our team of experts includes physical, occupational and speech therapists specializing in neurological problems. We regularly review cases during conferences with our colleagues to ensure that our patients receive effective, top-notch care tailored to their needs.
Specialized neurorecovery care
We offer specialty programs for specific conditions, including:
-
Epilepsy. Our neurorecovery epilepsy specialists care for patients experiencing seizures due to a traumatic brain injury, stroke, anoxic brain injury or other condition.
-
Spasticity. Our motor recovery specialists help people with spasticity regain movement and function. Treatment options include physical or occupational therapy or botulinum toxin (Botox) injections.
-
Traumatic brain injury. Experts in our Post-Acute TBI Program work with UCSF Health neurosurgeons to provide tailored care shortly after the brain injury occurs, boosting chances of a full recovery and reducing the risk of long-term complications.
We also work closely with other UCSF Health specialty programs focused on sports concussion, comprehensive stroke care, and neurosurgery to provide complete care.
We can often perform evaluations — including consultations with multiple specialists — via virtual care visits on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
Parking and transportation
Valet parking is available at the Campus Way entrance. If you have a disabled person parking placard issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), notify the parking attendant during check-in to receive a discounted rate.

VERIFY will validate biomarkers of upper extremity (UE) motor outcome in the acute ischemic stroke window for immediate use in clinical trials, and explore these biomarkers in acute intracerebral hemorrhage. VERIFY will create the first multicenter, large-scale, prospective dataset of clinical, transmagnetic stimulation (TMS), and MRI measures in the acute stroke time window.
