Dr. Anthony Luke is a primary care sports medicine doctor. He specializes in treating sports injuries without surgery, and also focuses on training and counseling patients in injury prevention. He is a physician lead for the Benioff Children's Hospital Sports Medicine Center for Young Athletes.

Luke's research interests include injury prevention, pediatric sports medicine, running medicine and digital health.

Luke completed his undergraduate education, medical degree and residency in family practice at the University of Toronto. He completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the Boston Children's Hospital and earned a master's degree in public health from Harvard University.

Luke helps direct high school sports medicine programs in San Francisco and Marin, and helps coordinate medical care at most of the large foot races in the Bay Area. He has worked with San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby and sports programs of the University of California, Berkeley, as well as at the Olympics.

    It doesn't get better than Dr Luke. Teaches you and lets you make informed decisions. Of course he offers data to back up treatments, and I just feel so informed about my options and likely outcomes. Impressive level of care.

    Dr Anthony Luke treated me very well, he will follow up on my shoulder I liked it because they called me the next day he saw me to find out about an emorry of my shoulder and if he is interested in his patients in other clinics they do not care about the patients until the appointment arrives they give them up to two to three months the appointments and my doctor Anthony then became interested In my health, thank you doctor

    Dr. Luke believes in me. He accepts and really believes with me that I am going to become a runner again and have a great ski season. That is significant in spurring my daily workouts and continuing PT for strengthening. He doesn't care about my age. He sees my commitment and contributes to my Increasing strength and endurance.     Dr Luke spent considerable time reviewing my MRI. Most patients may not appreciate his explanation but I did and helped me understand my injury. Dr Luke asked what was my goal and after hearing them, he focused on all of the available options. He then went through each option providing the pros and cons. He also suggested that one of the option may not be covered by Medicare but recommended that I should not rule it out because of the higher success rate and based on my goal and objective. I do not encounter too many care provider who cares about what he does and making sure his recommendations meets his patient's goals.For this, I am super happy with my experience with Dr Luke.

    Dr. Luke seemed to really care about my well-being -- not only did Dr Luke examine my knees, which was the purpose of the visit, he asked about my other ailments and offered suggestions to ameliorate them. I thought that was great.

    Very unhappy. I was advised to perform an xray without having been examined by Dr. He seemed to be rushing me out, never fully letting me complete my sentences. He didn't offer any explanation as to what caused my injury. Didn't give me any treatment advice. Didn't give me any ways to prevent further injury. The exam was minimal. I had to remind the Dr at the end of the appt to review my xray results. Confirming the xray wasn't necessary at all as he didn't even look at them before talking with me.

    Dr. Luke was informative and thorough. The problem is, in order to confirm his diagnosis, an MRI was required. Combined with the time it took to schedule my appointment with him, and the necessary MRI needed for accurate diagnosis, it took over a month. Unacceptable.

    I found the instructions for reducing swelling somewhat vague and not detailed enough since the doctor had technical Issues with the computer report -- so I was not able to view instructions. But ice didn't reduce swelling, so I put on heat and felt better. Would have liked more detailed instructions on swelling since I am in great pain at night and unable to sleep.
