Dr. Anthony Luke is a primary care sports medicine doctor. He specializes in treating sports injuries without surgery, and also focuses on training and counseling patients in injury prevention. He is a physician lead for the Benioff Children's Hospital Sports Medicine Center for Young Athletes.

Luke has been the Benioff Distinguished Professor in Sports Medicine since 2017. His research interests include injury prevention, pediatric sports medicine, running medicine and digital health.

Luke completed his undergraduate education, medical degree and residency in family practice at the University of Toronto. He completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the Boston Children's Hospital and earned a master's degree in public health from Harvard University.

Luke helps direct high school sports medicine programs in San Francisco and Marin, and helps coordinate medical care at most of the large foot races in the Bay Area. He has worked with San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby and sports programs of the University of California, Berkeley, as well as at the Olympics.

    At end of visit I was given a phone number to call if I had any issues post procedure. I had the impression the person would have information on after care or be able to liaise with the doctor on my questions and needs. However they were not knowledgeable to give information themselves and they had difficulty getting in touch with the doctor to relay my concerns.I rated "efforts to include me" as Very Good because he left it open for me to decide some factors which is something most people like. I however prefer more concrete guidelines and felt confused after I left.

    Dr. Luke was so great. He helped me understand all that was happening during my PRP process and provided helpful guidance around after-care and follow-up. Thank you!

    Not a great listener...several visits where he thought he knew what I was going to say and didn't, or answered another question. Even defensive at times

    I was seen by doctors: Lora Mina Rancourt, Jonathan Taylor, Anthony Cho-Chak Luke, Anna Beyer. Each doctor professionally and competently explained the problems, expressed answers to my questions. My hypotheses regarding my pain in the knee joints, left shoulder, fingers, and heart were analyzed with me. I want to note that every doctor has empathy and sympathy for me as an elderly person. I am very grateful to them for their kindness and professional management of the patient's appointment, determining the causes of the disease and treatment methods. I wish you personal growth and health!

    Dr. Luke was outstanding. He was friendly and easy to communicate with. He was genuinely interested in my problem, explained the procedure carefully making sure I understood the information. His technique was great--two injections were nearly painless--and as I watched the ultrasound, he pointed out what he was doing. I'm most appreciative.

    Dr. Luke is phenomenal. He's need taking care of my knees for years. I credit his care to my ability to continue annual backpacking and my frequent 6-8 mile hikes. I highly recommend him!

    It doesn't get better than Dr Luke. Teaches you and lets you make informed decisions. Of course he offers data to back up treatments, and I just feel so informed about my options and likely outcomes. Impressive level of care.

    Dr Anthony Luke treated me very well, he will follow up on my shoulder I liked it because they called me the next day he saw me to find out about an emorry of my shoulder and if he is interested in his patients in other clinics they do not care about the patients until the appointment arrives they give them up to two to three months the appointments and my doctor Anthony then became interested In my health, thank you doctor

    Dr. Luke believes in me. He accepts and really believes with me that I am going to become a runner again and have a great ski season. That is significant in spurring my daily workouts and continuing PT for strengthening. He doesn't care about my age. He sees my commitment and contributes to my Increasing strength and endurance.     Dr Luke spent considerable time reviewing my MRI. Most patients may not appreciate his explanation but I did and helped me understand my injury. Dr Luke asked what was my goal and after hearing them, he focused on all of the available options. He then went through each option providing the pros and cons. He also suggested that one of the option may not be covered by Medicare but recommended that I should not rule it out because of the higher success rate and based on my goal and objective. I do not encounter too many care provider who cares about what he does and making sure his recommendations meets his patient's goals.For this, I am super happy with my experience with Dr Luke.

    Dr. Luke seemed to really care about my well-being -- not only did Dr Luke examine my knees, which was the purpose of the visit, he asked about my other ailments and offered suggestions to ameliorate them. I thought that was great.
