Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery options
You and your surgeon discuss your goals, health history and symptoms. Together, you decide if minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is right for you.
We may perform vaginal, laparoscopic or robot-assisted procedures through tiny incisions in your abdomen — about the length of a grain of rice. The small incisions result in minimal scarring and a quicker recovery.
Our skilled surgeons perform:
Endometrial ablation
Your provider inserts a thin, wand-like device through your vagina and into your uterus (hysteroscopy). The device uses heat or cold energy to remove the lining of your uterus (endometrium).
The procedure treats heavy menstrual bleeding but is not ideal for people who desire to become pregnant in the future.
Endometrial excision
We insert a tiny, lit tube (laparoscope) through small abdominal incisions. A camera at the end of the laparoscope helps us see inside your abdomen and remove endometrial tissue growing outside of your uterus.
Laparoscopic myomectomy
A myomectomy can treat uterine fibroids. Using a minimally invasive approach, we remove fibroids using a laparoscope and surgical tools inserted through small abdominal incisions. This procedure can be an alternative to hysterectomy.
Laparoscopic hysterectomyYou may need a laparoscopic hysterectomy if your symptoms aren't responding to other treatments, and you don't desire to become pregnant in the future.
We use a laparoscope and special instruments to remove your uterus through small incisions in your abdomen.
Follow-up care after minimally invasive surgeryYou see one of our providers for a follow-up appointment after surgery to make sure you're healing well. We also communicate with your primary care provider and gynecologist to support seamless, informed care.
We may recommend pelvic floor therapy or other support services to help you recover well.
