The spine is a complex structure, balancing flexibility and strength. Even the smallest change in the structure of the spine can lead to significant disability and pain.

The UCSF Spine Center treats a full spectrum of spinal disorders from the most common to complex. The center specializes in difficult-to-diagnose conditions and those that have failed previous treatment. We help patients with spine deformities that can cause debilitating pain, broken bones in the spine and injuries to the spinal cord and nearby nerves.

The center is one of the largest of its kind in the country, treating 10,000 patients a year. It brings together world-renowned experts in cancer and radiation oncology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and orthopedic surgery, pain management, physiatry, physical therapy, rheumatology and other specialties to design the most effective treatment for your condition.
